2017: The Year I Did Stuff

I did a few things in 2017. Among those things, I quit two jobs, started two jobs, ended up with one job, visited three countries, got one new tattoo, discovered plenty of new music, continued to evolve my artistic style, and turned 30. So the year was average overall. I didn't shoot nearly as much as I would have liked to over the course of the year, but below are the occasions I did get the opportunity to capture.

For the first few months of 2017, I was mostly busy with work, which caused me to fall a bit further out of the car scene than I had already been. However, a friend that I met through work asked me to shoot his monthly Jeep meet a few times, so I obliged.

When I finally found the time and motivation to get out and do things, I went back to an old abandoned building to take some shots of some sweet decaying crap. You know how people like that rustic and deteriorating look that so represents our own lives deep inside? I mean I don't know anything about that. I just assume.

The family that I worked for also occasionally requested that I take family photos for them. And I was always happy to do that when I had the time.

As both of my new jobs over the course of the year kept me in close proximity to Bush Intercontinental Airport, I got plenty of chances to take photos and create some interesting things from them.

In August, I was lucky enough to take a cruise to Mexico. The unfortunate things were that it was in August, and also that our ship was practically followed by Hurricane Harvey. It made the stay in Yucatan a little damp, and made the return home even more damp. But when life gives you lemons, etc. etc.

Shortly after my return from that trip, I left one of my jobs to take on another. And this new job has cut even more harshly into my free time. However, for a short time, I was able to make it out to a few car events including ESCM, Cars and Clouds, and Stance Wars Houston.

To celebrate my 30th birthday while simultaneously squandering the little money I had left in my bank account, I took a week long trip to Rome which you can read about in more detail in my previous posts.

Because of my inability to shoot often, I got into the habit of using older photos for more experimental editing techniques. As I was able to take new photos, I started to shoot with the intent of turning things into something completely different. It was something that I began doing in 2016, but developed more and more over the course of 2017. Here are some of my personal favorites from this year. I hope you enjoy them, and hope that you continue to follow me as I continue to evolve. Thank you!

As a little added bonus, I usually listen to music when I edit, and it sometimes has an affect on the outcome. So here are some of my favorite tracks I've listened to this year!
